Recover the bag or collapse the arch
First decide which object has gone missing. If empty space remains under an overhang after you bag the lower potatoes, Repile can give you a workable pile again. If bags have accumulated out of reach and you cannot make another, use the sack recovery action. The 1.0.1 notes put both buttons on a one-minute cooldown. Starting a new shift is a much larger step than testing either recovery.
A bag swallowed by the top of the pile can leave the sack limit occupied even when nothing is visible on the snow. Try the lost-sack action, walk around the accessible edge and take one recovered bag all the way to the loading spot before packing again. If the issue is a suspended ceiling of loose potatoes, compare the pile silhouette after Repile instead.
Where to look when the sack forms
A player in the same discussion reports that the sack forms toward the direction you face at completion. They stood by the potatoes, faced toward the cableway or wheelbarrow and held the bagging input, leaving the finished sack in reach. Treat this as a community technique: try one sack from beside the heap with a clear landing area, then look where it appears before making a batch.
The Handling menu's Packaging row names the input: hold E. Start beside the accessible outer edge. As the action finishes, face the open snow or your parked wheelbarrow. Follow the new sack as it appears and move it immediately. This is a player technique; the camera direction may not save a bag that forms inside an existing overhang.
Move recovered sacks without losing track of them
Keep the space between the recovery point and your transport clear enough to see a whole bag. If one disappears, stop loading and locate it before making the next. A sack delivered intact to a full machine is a different case: the 1.0.2 hopper behavior deliberately preserves it. Let that machine empty or route the sack to a receiver with room.
At the red cableway station, bring the sack inside the painted rectangle beneath the outdoor hook. Wait for a visible lift before leaving for another bag. Indoors, look for the second marked pickup strip and room in at least one machine. That separates a bag still in the snow from a delivered sack waiting for the next indoor pickup.
