No Escape and the difference between two outdoor deaths

For No Escape, walk away from the depot while the shift is still active and continue beyond the loudspeaker’s warning. A flash while you are walking back from the potato pile can have a different cause. What happened immediately before the reset is your best clue.

Follow the perimeter warning

Use an ordinary, unfinished shift for this attempt. Walk outward from the work area until the loudspeaker warns you to return. For the achievement, intentionally carry on in the same outward direction. The player guide describes a scene at the perimeter and the achievement unlocking there. Simply stepping through the warehouse doorway is part of ordinary work.

Start from the yard and choose a direction leading away from the warehouse. Keep going after the spoken warning if the achievement is your goal. The illustrated achievement guide captures the viewpoint tipping and a distant-gunshot subtitle at the edge. If all you see is an ordinary path and the work controls still respond, a warning alone has not demonstrated the completed event.

If the warning is all you have heard

The warning is an opportunity to turn back. If you want to continue working, head toward the warehouse. If you want the achievement, continue past it instead. Check the Steam entry afterward. The finale has its own route to the train; keep that scripted departure separate when recording your completion progress.

Use the Journal to disambiguate two similar-looking walks through the snow. When End of the shift is asking you to go to the Iron Door, the authored route leads through the door and along the rails to a locomotive. The perimeter achievement describes leaving the work area earlier. The linked rail-yard capture is a landmark for the finale if you discover you are following that route instead.

A sudden flash by the potato pile

A player reported a black screen and a brief flash while walking back to the bunker, then found themselves inside. A respondent attributed that incident to a grenade in the pile. This is a player explanation for one report, not a diagnosis of every outdoor reset. Distinguish a flash while carrying potatoes from a spoken warning while deliberately walking away.

Ask what happened immediately before the reset. A warning repeating while you deliberately walk outward points to the perimeter. A flash at the mound while collecting points to a different event. Check Steam for No Escape; a missing achievement plus a flash near the pile is reason to try the boundary procedure itself, rather than disturbing the mound again. A second player posted a view inside the mound and reported that a grenade had thrown their cart into it. The picture documents the resulting position; the explanation for the blast is the uploader’s account.
