Recover a stuck shift, a missing HUD or a lost tool

Use the pause menu to reach Troubleshooting when the player or equipment gets stranded. Which recovery action you need depends on whether the player, a movable tool or the pile is stuck.

Choose the object that needs recovery

Start from the pause menu and follow its Troubleshooting direction. Use Unstuck for a stranded player. If you can walk freely but the wheelbarrow or sack is the problem, use the corresponding Wheelbarrow or Sack fix. Hotfix 1.0.1 shortened all three cooldowns from five minutes to 60 seconds. Let that interval pass before treating a second click that does nothing as a fresh fault.

Before triggering a recovery, test three things in place: can you look around, can you step sideways, and can you reach the pause menu? If only an object is stranded, note which object and where it is. Using the player reset while your wheels or sack remain wedged makes the result harder to interpret. After one attempt, wait the documented cooldown before retrying, and verify that you can use the recovered object.

Watch the first seconds after a reset

Once the reset takes effect, check your position, then look for your HUD and try moving. Hotfix 1.0.2 addressed two different outcomes: an endless loop of falling after a bad reset, and an Unstuck action that left both input and HUD unavailable. If either returns, capture the sequence from the original stuck spot through the attempted reset.

Use a doorway or work surface as your first fixed reference. After Unstuck, confirm that it remains in view, move sideways and check the HUD. If you repeatedly fall without another button press, record the first reset through the first repeated fall. If only the HUD disappears, say whether movement still works and whether the mouse can open the pause menu. Those observations point to different symptoms even when players describe both as “still stuck”.

If only the pile has wedged

The Repile action has its own 60-second cooldown in the 1.0.1 notes. In 1.0.2 its old red hold-R badge was removed and the action remains in the pause menu. Use that route for a jammed pile when your character still moves. If the problem persists, the developers direct players to the report option on the Troubleshooting page.

Older instructions that tell you to find a red hold-R badge describe an earlier version. After using Repile, look at the original problem spot and see whether the potato is now reachable. Compare one attempt before and after the action, rather than repeatedly pressing it during cooldown. If the character is free but a single potato still hangs out of reach, include a wide view of its position relative to the crane or the ground in the report.
