From request to departure
Look for the village request among the letters. Prepare the requested shipment and put the potatoes into the village crate. Once it is loaded, approach the crate itself. On the default keyboard controls, hold E to send it. Golden Horn explicitly changed this interaction in 1.0.2 because earlier behavior could turn the contents into a sack instead.
Check the letter sender before you commit supplies. Pavel’s letters can offer a timed payment, whereas the villagers request a physical shipment. The everyday peeler hopper, your loose sacks, and the water chute are production equipment. Delivering potatoes to them can keep the factory moving without dispatching the village crate. Look for the crate interaction after loading the requested goods.
If you keep making sacks: check whether the shipment registered
First identify what you are interacting with: the intended target is the loaded villager crate. Check that your build includes the 1.0.2 fix before interpreting a sack appearing as a failed story choice. The developer note specifies a loaded crate; it does not promise that holding the same input on an empty one will dispatch anything.
Reproduce the failure in a single attempt. Note whether the crate was loaded, what the prompt said when you aimed at it, whether you held the input, and whether the result was a stationary crate, a newly made sack, or a departing shipment. Those observations distinguish an input issue from the specific sacking behavior fixed in the developer’s notes. If you need to report the failure, capture the crate before and after the hold.
For a finished shift, read Potatoes sent to Varenka in the shift report. In one English-language report that field is zero despite 103,110 processed potatoes and eleven answered letters; another shows 45 sent. Compare your own field to identify a zero-delivery run. These screenshots verify what the counters look like after the shift; the developer’s 1.0.2 note is the evidence for the earlier crate input bug.
How many deliveries do you need?
The community achievement guide reports that one donation is sufficient for A Heart of Gold. That makes the first accepted request a convenient checkpoint. Continue helping later if you want to follow that branch of the story. Feeding the puppy has its own reward, and choosing Varenka as the final train destination earns a different achievement again.
The end-of-shift report has a separate line for potatoes sent to Varenka. One photographed report records 45 sent to the village alongside 62,250 total peels. That line is useful evidence that the game recorded a delivery; 45 is one player’s total, not an achievement threshold. To verify the unlock itself, check A Heart of Gold in Steam after sending.
