Feed the warehouse puppy and unlock Good Boy

Wait until the puppy appears outside the depot, buy Dog Food at the terminal and take it back to the animal. The feeding interaction is the step to look for. Picking up supplies or helping a village visitor belongs to a different part of the shift.

Find the food and return to the puppy

The 9Puz illustrated walkthrough puts Dog Food in the terminal’s Character tab. If you are looking through machine upgrades, leave that menu and open the character items. Return to the puppy near the warehouse and use the interaction at the animal. Look for Good Boy in your Steam achievements after the feeding.

Use the small bed beside the dark barrels and the ground-level food bowl as landmarks. One English-language player capture shows Hungry Puppy as the target when the dog is lying down; another shows it standing beside a filled bowl. If the prompt only offers petting, check your Steam achievement entry and whether you actually have Dog Food. Holding the pet input on an already standing dog does not, by itself, verify that you bought or gave food.

Separate the two kindness achievements

Both the puppy and the village invite a generous response. For a completion checklist, give them separate boxes. Good Boy corresponds to feeding the puppy. Players report A Heart of Gold for sending potatoes to Varenka. If your last action was dispatching the village crate, it tells you nothing about whether you have fed the dog.

For Good Boy, your target is an animal on the ground. For the village reward, your target is a loaded crate that can be dispatched. Check the matching outcome after the action: the puppy stands and starts helping, or the crate is sent. If the dog is already following you indoors and your checklist still shows an empty village box, wait for the villagers’ request and inspect the crate rather than buying more dog food.

Working beside your new helper

Golden Horn changed how puppy-peeled potatoes are classified: they no longer provide machine output for quests. If a machine objective stalls while the puppy works, check the actual peeling line. Hotfix 1.0.2 also prevents the puppy from carrying off the special key potato. A quiet dog is a poor clue to its location on that build, because muting the puppy now silences the lost whine as well.

A useful test for a machine-specific objective is to watch a potato enter a peeler and come out the other side while you check the Journal. The dog running beside the pile is confirmation that it is active, not evidence that the machine objective should advance. For the missing key potato, read the separate end-of-shift checklist first; the player’s screenshot shows that checklist active even with the puppy safely back indoors.
